20 miles / 3:07 / 9:21 avg pace
One of my Dad’s favorite sayings is “no one ever drowned in sweat”. I think I came pretty close today. 90% humidity is no joke! I was planning on doing this run as a long, slow distance anyway but the weather gave me no choice. By mile 10 my shorts were drenched and sticking to me. Shortly after that, I started getting exhausted and my stomach started to cramp up. I dehydrate pretty easily so I always carry my handheld water bottle with me…and I refilled it 4 times! So after a 4:30AM wake-up call and 20 miles, I feel completely hungover – headache, nauseous, etc. Awesome. On days like today, it’s unavoidable. I drank a ton of water, ate Shot Bloks every 4 miles, and even took electrolyte tablets pre- and post-run.
But I need to recover quickly because tonight is summer wedding #2. My friend Wendy is getting married! I’m so happy for her!
Are you dealing with this ridiculous humidity too? Please feel free to vent!
Have a great weekend everyone!

You are going to KILL that marathon in September!!! Yes, I hate how humid and hot it is lately! Since I’m not training for anything for another week or so I have been chickening out and getting on the treadmill to avoid the weather!
Yes! The humidity kills me! I wish I could hold that pace in the humidity! Its sweat city for me every morning! Have fun at the wedding !!
I always feel hung over after a long run. That’s why I’m so much fun for the rest of the day. 🙂
Great job running in that ickiness!

It is super humid here too. I ran only 3 miles yesterday but the heat and humidity were killing me
you are amazing for doing those 20 in the humidity. we have been having some humidity here and it is hot for me but I know it is NOTHING like most people are dealing with and definitely not even close to what it will be like when I visit home (KY) here soon…so tough to run in! awesome job! have fun tonight 🙂
90% humidity is ridiculous. That is killer. Way to go busting it out! Have a great time at the wedding!
Wedding pics please!
Nice long run before the weekend so you can party! 🙂
First things first, nice job on getting the 20-mile run in despite the humidity. I remember doing a 20 last summer when I was training for Chicago (before I found out I was pregnant). Boy, oh boy was it HUMID. I had to start at 4:45 AM just to make sure I wasn’t going to die out there. Fortunately, I had a great friend that would leave a cooler out her front steps for me and I made sure to pass it 3x. Of course, I hate HATE hate loops, but whatever I could do to get some water stops in.
Secondly, another wedding?!? How fun. Can’t wait to see the pictures!!!!
I absolutely love your dad’s saying about drowning in sweat! I have never heard that and am going to use it on my girls! haha
