Hooray for a rest day! And hooray for another one tomorrow. I’m going to an easy yoga class at lunchtime (the mm hmm lady – she’s growing on me). We are headed to DC tomorrow and staying until Monday…with Mr. Hawk in tow. We found a pet-friendly hotel. Hawk is very excited. Race day weather still looks awesome. I can’t wait!
It’s your favorite day of the week…time for Friday Favorites…the travel edition!
Matt and I caught the travel bug during our honeymoon. We went on a Mediterranean cruise and saw a bunch of cities in Europe. We didn’t care much for the cruise itself, but we loved getting a little sample of Europe and now we have a list of places we would love to go back to. The following year, we went to Australia. It was unbelievable. We spent time in Sydney, Port Douglas (Great Barrier Reef area), and Melbourne. Next up…
IRELAND!
For real! Matt and I just booked our flights this week! We always wanted to go there and found amazingly cheap flights too good to pass up. So we’ll be Ireland-bound in May 🙂
If you’ve been to Ireland, please let me know your “must sees”. I would love to hear your suggestions!
I included pictures of our favorite places in Europe and Australia. It was hard to narrow it down since we pretty much enjoyed everything.

happy friday! awesome travel photos and fun news about ireland – too bad you’re not stopping by london 🙂
i’m going to the amalfi coast in june – let me know if you have any good tips!
Kristy says
I know Claire – we really want to do London too but couldn’t swing it this trip 🙁
We were in Amalfi for a day (the downside to cruising it – you never stay overnight) and basically drove through all the towns and stopped for pictures. There are so many amazing little towns and the hotels! Some of them are literally stuck into a cliff. So beautiful! You’ll have a great time!

ah you were on a cruise, got it! i’m excited, we’re heading there for my boyfriend’s friend’s wedding in ravello – first italian wedding! fun! 🙂
i’ve only been to dublin – was there for a weekend last summer, fun city! if you’re there on the weekend, i had an awesome brunch at this place called odessa, and also had a nice run in phoenix park. sure you guys will enjoy it – countryside is supposed to be beautiful too! here’s the restaurant if you’re interested, as well as an interesting bar (which used to be a church).

oh and in terms of things to see and do, obviously the guinness factory, the area around grafton st and st stephens green is quite nice. temple bar area is super touristy and ridiculous with all the bachelor and bachelorette parties but worth having a look and watching all the craziness! book of kells is interesting too.
Kristy says
thanks – adding these to the list!

Thanks for the recommendations!
You’re going to a wedding in Amalfi?!?!?!?! Ahhhh, you are going to have an incredible time. We saw a wedding when we were there. I can’t imagine a more gorgeous backdrop!

Good luck this weekend! That is supposed to be an awesome race – I am slightly jealous! 🙂
So exciting that you booked a trip to Ireland. I went the summer before college and it was one of my favorite places that I’ve ever traveled. The people are so friendly and it’s a beautiful country. You will have a great trip!

Thank you for the little taste of amazing places on this yucky-weather Fri. So excited that 2 of my honeymoon destinations (Venice and Amalfi) made the photos. We leave 4 months from today!
Wish I could give Ireland recs, but I was only 17 when there. And I was chaperoned by NUNS, so no Guinness or pub-crawling! I remember liking the Cliffs of Moor. Can’t wait to see pics via the blog.
Again, good luck on Sun. Have a great DC weekend. Very cool that Hawk gets to tag along. Lucky dog!

Have a GREAT time this weekend!!!

Ohhh I would LOVE to go to Ireland. I went all over Europe a year ago. Ten countries (11 if you count our layover in Portugal, rerouted because of the Icelandic volcanic eruptions). My favourite country was Scotland by far, so I can imagine Ireland would be amazing!! That’s a must do for me one day if I ever make it back to the UK.

good luck with your race!!
thanks for sharing all of your pics…they look amazing. and I am incredibly jealous of your Ireland trip!!! that sounds soooo awesome!!
Thanks also for your comment on my blog today…I have been pretty frustrated with my feet lately…but felt a little hopeful (although skeptical at the same time) about forking out the money for the orthotics…but your comment left me feeling a lot more optimistic! hoping for the best 🙂
have a GREAT weekend!
Kristy says
I really think they’ll make a difference. I have the flattest feet imaginable so I excessive overpronate. The orthotics help realign my feet so they are more stable. They are hard as a rock too (which I think yours will be as well?) and people ask me all the time if after running 20 miles my feet hurt. They don’t. They feel great 🙂 Good luck!

Good luck in the race this weekend!! I hope the weather is stays great on Saturday!
