3 days are better than 2…

May 28, 2012 by Kristy 14 Comments

Fun and productive…that’s what you get with a 3-day weekend.

I kicked off the weekend with a 15-miler on Friday morning, my longest run since Boston.  I did my same hilly, long run route but slowed down the pace significantly.  There’s no need for speedy long runs right now and that is more than OK with me.  I really missed just getting out there and running, with no agenda.

On Friday night we went to a wedding (see the importance of getting the long run outta the way?!).  But first we swung by my brother’s house to see my niece – it was her Junior Prom.  She looked beautiful!

To balance out the fun of Friday night, Saturday was all about sleeping in, no running, making up training plans, and a wee bit of shopping (GAP was having an amazing sale).

And with Sunday, we were back to fun – a BBQ at my brother’s house.  In the morning I knocked out 6 miles on trails, bringing me to 40 miles for the week.

Monday morning started with 9 miles on the same trails and then extreme productivity.  I made a very optimistic to-do list and, as I type this, I have just 1 item left on the list!  We leave for London/Paris on Friday night so I’m trying to get as much done as possible early on in the week.  And I’m squeezing another 40-mile week into 4 days of running.  Fun!

Was your Memorial Day weekend fun and productive?

Kris – That is one of the best pics of Catherine that I’ve seen. Can you send to me?

Nice weekend! It’s great that you are just logging long runs like that w/o any big agenda right now. It makes training really enjoyable to do that now and again.

We’ve had a great weekend here, too. Got in a trail run today–my favorite!

Mine was fun and productive – well more productive than fun (I can’t say I enjoyed my hot and sweaty run this morning!! so not used to this humidity) but definitely got a lot done. good thing too cause tomorrow I begin my intensive organic chemistry class and there will be no time for anything!

Have an amazing time in London and Paris – if you need any info esp w/ London let me know 🙂 how funny – now I’m jealous of all your travels!

I am just so jealous of your travel plans. We’re not doing much traveling this year. Just a stay-cation back in good ole NJ. Boring? Sure, but it beats the hell out of being at work, right?

Your 15-mile run sounded great AND yes, I am big on planning those longer runs when you have events – Oh yeah, I’ll have another slice of cake, pleaseeeeee. ;o)

I still have 3-more days of my mini-vacation (hey, you’re going to London on Friday, so I think I should rub that in). LOL

Okay, I’ll catch up more later. Your niece looked fab and so did you. Love that dress on you. Work it!!! (seriously, I’m sure I’d gain too much after Hawaii. HAHA).

London/Paris – sounds fun! Any plans to go to Roland Garros (you may not be tennis people though).

I changed out summer/winter clothes today. Never fun!

Awesome job on your running! I can’t even remember what 15 miles feels like.

Your arms look great in that pic!

I love long weekends! I love your dress in that photo 🙂 Don’t you wish we could just travel all the time and not have to work at all? You’re livin’ the life, lady!

OMG, your niece is a tiny mini-you. How friggin cute. Love her dress.

Look at you being all productive and on the heels of a vaca no less. I tend to get less productive as it gets closer and then the day before run around in a mad dash yelling at the world that I’M BUSY, DAMN IT. It’s super not annoying in the least for those around me, I’m sure.

It’s 96 here today. I want to let that sink in. 9-friggin-6. I hate this place. Can I be your and the hubs roomie? I come with a kid and a dog. Oh and a hubs of my own and a cat.

    What? Is that a problem?
