20 Miles, Take 4

August 12, 2011 by Kristy 19 Comments

8/12/11
20 miles / 2:52:52 / 8:38 avg pace

It’s a beautiful day!  When I got back to my car post-run the temp was 67?!  Wow.  Further evidence…my shorts were (somewhat) dry after my run!  If you can’t tell, I’m holding up 4 fingers because this is my 4th 20-miler…obviously.

don't be jealous of my tan

I felt pretty good throughout this run, aside from some GI issues around mile 14.  This is odd for me, usually business is taken care of pre-run (sorry, I mean how else can you talk about this topic?).  Isn’t funny how your GI tract knows exactly where the bathrooms are and notifies you?  OK, movin’ on…

Splits – the first 10 miles.  I was in complete awe of the sunrise this morning (I need to bring my camera – it’s unreal) and you can tell I didn’t start getting serious until mile 6.

The second 10 miles.  I’m happy to see I picked up the pace at mile 14.  Mile 19 was an awful hill…but I rebounded nicely with mile 20 🙂

So. Happy. To. Be. Done!  Beer and pizza tonight with friends…and we all know how much better it tastes after a long run!

Unrelated question of the day:  I’m thinking of switching to wordpress.org but I need to choose a web host.  Anyone have suggestions?  How is Blue Host?  Has anyone used Revive My Blog?

There is no shame in poop talk 🙂

I have no idea how to switch, which is why I’m still on blogger even though it sucks balls many days.

I feel like the only blogger left who hasn’t done a post with poop talk. I also have no idea about other hosts. I feel like I can barely find time to write a post, much less investigate better ways to do so. Your pace is awesome! I am seriously so impressed. I need to start pushing it more like all you awesome runner/bloggers do.

    There is a wordpress.com and a wordpress.org?!?

Anyways, SOLID LR! If you’re doing your training run that fast, you are gonna knock 3:45 outta the park! (or 3:40 – I can’t remember what your goal is!)

      Yes, I know super confusing!

I don’t think I will knock 3:45 outta the park (but thanks for the vote of confidence)!!! I trying to mimic race day with each LR and this pace is good…don’t think I could go much faster AND add another 6.2 miles on!!!

oh and i just saw your random question. i am self-hosted with blue host and have had on and off issues with servers. my blog goes down a little more often than i’d like. but honestly, i think you’re going to have that with any of the big hosts that have you on these big shared servers.

and i contacted revive my blog one time about helping with something for my blog and they never even responded to my inquiry. i think you’d be better off asking around and finding a local IT guy or another blogger who can help you. they will probably be cheaper and more available.

i know all of this stuff is super overwhelming but it’s worth it to make the switch!

I’ve used Bluehost for years and have never had any trouble. Great price and great customer service too.

How in the world do you keep such a pace? I’m seriously jealous because I’ve had to accept the fact that I’m slow. Period. I’m such a wannabe-faster-runner though, I’m refusing to give up! Keep up the great work!

Thank you! It took me 10 years of running to get here, I am not naturally speedy AT ALL.

Don’t give up. It’s hard work but the speed does come eventually!

Great job on yet another 20 miler! It made me tired just reading your mile splits.

I’ve thought about switching, too. I have a wordpress.com address that I’ve done nothing with. It seems like too much work to switch over!! Let us know what you find out!

Great job on your fourth 20-miler! I love how consistent you are in your training, I have no doubt you’ll get that BQ! GI issues and running are a HUGE part of training, it should be talked about more in my opinion.

OMG, I am cracking the F out on your tan. HAHAHA. Last May, I had a runners’ tan and because I am brown, everyone thought I was wearing knee highs. Okay, dipsh*t. Why would I be wearing knee highs in 90-degree weather?!?

Great pace for your 4th 20-miler. You are making me look like Peggy Bundy — just give me my bonbons and Oprah. Sheesh. I need to get to training soon. Well, I’m still searching for the perfect plan and then it officially starts first week of September.

For now, I will have to come in on here to get some motivation.

I am so white, you would never believe that I run outside. My legs repel the sun, I swear. I don’t even have a shorts tan line.

As for training plans, Runner’s World Smart Coach and Hal Higdon have pretty decent half plans. RW’s is good because you can customize.
