The Waiting Game

October 18, 2011 by Kristy 18 Comments

The best things in life come to those who wait…sometimes.  Ugh, the waiting game.  Not one of my strong suits due to my lack of patience. Lately, I feel like I have been waiting for everything.  Big stuff, small stuff, whatever.  The B.A.A. tested my patience last month and I waited.  I feel like that kicked-off a waiting frenzy.

What exactly am I waiting for?  Here’s the list…both big and small.

  • Work-related news.  Which could be good, bad, or just meh.  That’s a biggie.
  • Daylight savings.  I’m sure you early morning runners can sympathize.  I can’t wait until November 6.  A 7:15am sunrise is just way too late.
  • Knuckle lights…on backorder.  Apparently Alyssa mentions them on her blog and starts a knuckle light craze 😉  Thankfully they should come in this week.  Just in time for daylight savings.
  • This fabulous Fall/Spring coat…also on backorder.  I decided to live on the edge and not get all black.  I hope it doesn’t snow before I wear it.

  • Holidays.  I can’t wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Decorating, cookies, Turkey Trots, and taking Hawk to see Santa (oh yes we do).

What are you waiting for these days…big or small?

I’m waiting for my race to finally happen! I feel like I’ve building up to it forever and I can’t wait for the day to finally come where I gear up and conquer 50 miles (or limp across the finish line, whatever!)

Your “That’s what she said” joke on my blog made me actually laugh out loud, well done. 🙂

I am waiting for January and the Houston Marathon. There’s a lot of training to do first, but Jan. 15 is always in my mind. Around my house there’s lots of waiting for Halloween. And I’m waiting for my two North Face pocket bras to arrive (while googling running bras, I found your recommendation for them yesterday, Kristy, and they sound like exactly what I’ve been looking for; ordered two of ’em!).

Waiting is the WORST! I’m waiting for 2 fun weddings this weekend and for Thanksgiving. I know it’s kind of far away– but I just love all the food and family that comes into town!

    What can I say, I’m a trendsetter 🙂

Waiting is rough, but at the same time I like having something to look forward to. Right now I’m waiting for my parents to visit, I don’t have long, they get here on Thursday!

    Cute coat!

Oh, I L-O-V-E the Fall. I love when it gets dark out by 4:30. I know, not a lot of people like it, but for some reason, it just means Turkey Day and Christmas are right around the corner. And I am in need of a new fall coat. My boss just got a brand new fall coat and only spent $39.99. I must find it. Who cares if we’re wearing the same coat? I only see her 8 hours, 5 days a week. HA.

I am the most impatient person ever… Oh, I hate waiting for anything.

I’m waiting for actual fall weather to STAY in NYC (although in Orlando now, where it is full on summer still!).

I’m not really that impatient for the NYC marathon to get here. It’ll get here when it gets here.

    That coat is adorable!

I am (im)patiently waiting for Monday, when we find out what this little one is growing inside of me.

I am really (im)patient for March when we get to meet said little one!!

And I am ready to be OVER being sick. Boo.

Those knuckle lights are a really good idea! I wish I could get into the habit of running in the morning. I’m ready to NOT be sick anymore and to finish my grad class!! WOO HOO!

I have a Rainy Day Mac from Boden from last spring, I love it! Actually I have two… one brown and one navy. They get lots of compliments when I wear them. Wish I had the balls to get a print, but I went with solids. I’d love for some extra daylight in the morning. I want to do some of my shorter runs before work and it’s so hard to get out of bed, especially when hubs is still sleeping. I’m waiting for big news…well my husband is, but it’s big for me too- involving when exactly he’ll be done with his thesis and where he gets job offers from. Eek. Smaller waiting: the Philly half marathon!

Marine Corps!!! I’m both ready for marathon day to get here…and dreading its arrival.

I hope you hear the work-related news soon – and that it’s good news! And thanks for the reminder about daylight savings. I have to admit I had no idea when we were falling back this year.

Is your work news a transfer to the New Orleans area? So that you can use a cattle prod or something electrical to get me to run faster?

    No?

    Wellllll, crap.

I cannot wait until Daylight Savings time either! I agree, the sun is rising way too late in the morning for me and we’re on the east coast! It was so much worse when we were visiting my family in Michigan over the weekend!

I’m not a fan of how retailers skip holidays though – some stores already have Christmas cards and decorations out and we haven’t even gotten to Halloween yet!

One thing I’m waiting for, is for my stress fracture to heal, and I’m only on day three. Ugh.

Hope things turn out well at work!
