Taper Makes Me Lazy

September 2, 2011 by Kristy 10 Comments

9/2/11
10 miles / 1:31 / 9:06 avg pace

Last week I practically jumped out of bed to run my 22-miler.  Today I re-set my phone for an additional 15 minutes of sleep (something I never do) and could barely muster any enthusiasm to run my last long run.  “Taper time” makes me lazy.  I hate holding back, watching my pace, and cutting out miles.  It seems that all that holding back demotivates me in the process.  Thankfully, I only have 1 more week to go.

Of course today I decide to carry my camera with me and it’s cloudy.  Right at this exact spot you can usually see the most amazing sunrise.

And what would a long run be without post-run pictures?  Thumbs up for a successful training cycle!

And then a normal picture.

I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend!

Any good long runs or races this weekend?

Do you get lazy during “taper time”?

I feel like I get more lazy immediately AFTER a race. Taper time is pretty intense with thinking about the race, but after the race is done, I get slow and lazy. 😛

Hmm, I’ve only tapered twice, so I’ll have to see how it goes this time around! So excited for you for next weekend!

I think I get crazy during taper! Obsessing over phantom injuries and always wondering if I should be doing more. I guess I could benefit from being more lazy during taper to help me relax!

Hope you have a good long weekend 🙂

Sorry, I’m new to your blog…just wondering if you switch up your routes during taper to make things a little more interesting? Whenever I get in rut, taper or not, I find that usually helps keep me motivated.

My long run yesterday was 7 miles, good for me. Today is all about relaxing and enjoying the long weekend! Hope you’re doing the same!

I used to hit the snooze button a lot. The new alarm clock, I can’t seem to snooze. Mainly b/c it’s Lili crying for a diaper change + a feeding. I seriously feel like you just started training for this race… Gosh, was the NJ marathon really 4 months ago? Crazy how the months just seem to fly by. It’ll be new year’s before we know it… It’s the BERS. ;o)

I know. I can’t believe it’s the BERS already. I love that phrase, btw!
