Blogging lately has been sporadic at best. Either I don’t have much to say or don’t have enough time to string it together in a post (which is usually the case these days).
So annoying and so true…so I will just stop right now with the OMG sooo busy!
Booty shorts
Last weekend I bought these:
Normally I shun away from anything that may make my thighs look like sausages. I was surprised with how flattering these look and how comfortable they feel. So they are not technically booty shorts (compared to these), but I was a tad self conscious the first time I wore them (I’m already over that). During the summer my shorts are stuck to me anyway because of sweat, so why not wear shorts that stick to you to begin with? Makes more sense to me…
Olympics
OMG sooo excited! The women’s marathon is Sunday, August 5 while the poor men have to wait until the very last day – Sunday, August 12. That sucks.
50K training
This is my last big mileage week before the taper, which will be a 3-week taper this time around…as opposed to my 2-week marathon tapers. I’m feeling really good and my legs are holding up just fine.
Last week’s training…
MON: 7 miles
TUE: 10 miles
WED: 6 miles
THU: 5 miles
FRI: 9 miles (9:27 pace)
SAT: 17 miles (9:32 pace)
SUN: rest
54 miles total with most of my runs Garmin-free. This weekend I’m attempting 26.2 as a training run.
Do you run in booty shorts (i.e., spandex)?
Which Olympic event(s) are you most looking forward to?

I hear ya on being soooooo busy – my blogging has suffered a bit too.
I’m really looking forward to the Olympics as well! Good motivation to grab onto these back to back long runs and enjoy the ride to ultra-land.
Great job on the mileage and the fact that your legs are sticking with you. Can’t believe you’re already talking taper….good for you! I’ve got a bit more mileage/weeks to go, but can’t wait to follow you thru your ultra 🙂

I have compression spandex-y shorts that I like to wear for hot runs..well, I did when they fit 🙂
I loved the meme!

I actually love yoga/booty shorts – I don’t think I necessarily look the best in them, but they don’t ride up or annoy me 🙂 And, yes, I looooove the Olympics also! Love, love, love! Finally, it’s crazy that you are already tapering for your ultra – time flies!

I have shorts similar to that which I wear for all my trail races. I HATE how they look but love how they feel. They cause the least chafing – which was pretty necessary for yesterday’s race, because my entire upper body was covered in chafing, but barely any on my legs! That’s worth a little sausage casing appearance 🙂

Very nice mileage! I cannot wait to watch both Olympic marathons, otherwise I’ll just be watching whatever is on–I probably won’t turn my TV off during the games.

I am cracking the F up at your “sausages” comment. Girl, mine look like logs. I wish those shorts looked better on me… My thighs are the hardest to tone!
WOW, 26.2 — GET IT! You’ll do awesome!!!!

I know my legs wouldn’t look good in shorts like that! I’d also worry about the UTI factor–I tend to get UTIs and therefore shun anything clingy in that area at all (sorry if this is TMI).
I’m very much looking forward to the marathons, and really all of the longer distance track and field events. I’m glad the Games aren’t in a hot place this year, as they were for the last two.

i am a fan of the booty short, I have to say. especially for long sweaty runs, when nike tempo shorts turn into gross, wet diapers. I can’t wait for the women’s marathon! And men’s!! GAHH. and all of the gymnastics and track and field. 🙂

run in spandex sparingly, but only because I have one pair
excited for GYMNASTICS! 1500, 800, 5k, 10k, marathon

Nice mileage, Kristy! You must be relieved it’s about taper time. 🙂 I bought not one, not two, but THREE pairs of booty shorts since I’m spinning so much these days and that’s what all the cool kids wear to class. It’s crossed my mind that maybe I could wear them for super sweaty runs, but… I’m pretty self-conscious. We’ll see! I’m excited to watch the women’s Olympic marathon!!!!!
