Happy September 1st! September is my favorite month of the year (with October being a close second). I love Fall and the whole back-to-school season. I’m obviously not a teacher…or a parent 😉 I never dreaded going back to school either when I was younger. Nerd.
If you sense a list coming, you know me too well! Here’s why I love Fall…
- perfect running weather (this is almost too obvious to even list)
- running in shorts and a long-sleeve DRI-fit shirt
- sweaters (and my beloved Uggs – I don’t care if they are no longer in style)
- enjoying my coffee without sweating to death (dislike iced coffee)
- on that same note, hot chocolate
- pumpkins and mums
- Halloween candy
- dressing up Hawk in a ridiculous costume for Halloween
- Fall races (I have lots of them planned)
- keeping the windows open and allowing fresh air to come in
- perfect sleeping weather
AND…I have a marathon in 10 days! A perfect way to ring in Fall! I got an email from the race yesterday saying “it is on as scheduled”. Apparently there were questions about whether the race would go on due to Irene. The thought of it NOT happening never crossed my mind but it does explain all the “lehigh marathon and hurricane irene” blog searches.
What’s your favorite season? Why?

Wait, Uggs aren’t in anymore?? Not in my book. 🙂
I love fall too. I can’t wait for cooler running temps and also using the weather shield on the jogging stroller. I can barely hear her scream through it. 🙂

i heard or maybe read that they weren’t “in style” anymore but i love mine and will continue to wear them. i’m not exactly fashion-forward anyway!

Haha oh man I can’t wait to start using my weather shield! ANother perk I was unaware of until now 🙂

I used to HATE the fall bc of school and its when the weather cooled down. Funny how things like that change as I get older. I love the weather in the fall for the same reason as u – running weather! I also love fall fashion and all the pumpkin treats (beer, lattes, shakes, etc.)

I love FALL! It’s my favorite season. I’m all about Halloween, Thanksgiving, RACING, CHRISTMAS SONGS, getting dark by 5pm, etc., etc., etc. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I love when the leaves change colors (but hate when it’s time to rake), love mittens, and hot cocoa, turning the fireplace on, pumpkins….. FOOTBALL SUNDAYS!!! So much fun!
I can’t believe your marathon is in TEN freaking days!! I’m so excited for you! You’ve trained hard!!!
HAPPY SEPTEMBER FIRST!

I like each season as it comes, but I do LOVE the fall and early winter – all the best holidays, best clothes, pumpkin stuff, halloween, halloween candy, thanksgiving, perfect running OR tennis weather, crispness in the air, the “fire” smell in the air…love it.
Do not love the days getting shorter though!
My home is knoxville is always beautiful in the fall – looks like an LL Bean catalog.

I love fall, and September, for all of those reasons! Crisp but not freezing weather, colors, pumpkin things, races, marathons, love it all. I can’t believe your race is so soon!! Ahh.

I love Fall too, but it seems like I always miss out on it – I’m tapering and then recovering and then it’s winter. 🙁
Race month! How exciting for you!

The Lehigh Marathon course goes along a towpath for at least part of it, right? My towpath was super-flooded, I’m hoping it will be in better shape this weekend. Glad to hear your marathon is still on!
Love running in fall! Looking forward to the RnR Philly and Nov Philly half marathons…meant to sign up for the Sloppy Cuckoo trail half on 9/25 too before the price went up today but forgot (Have you ever run in Pennypack Park?) I’ve usually been excited about going back to school (student and employee) but I’m not feelin’ it this year – I think I’d rather stay home and run all day 🙂
Kristy says
Yes, it does. So I’m hoping it is all dried up by 9/11.
I’m looking forward to RnR and Philly Half too! Love those races! Never ran in Pennypack which is funny since I grew up very close to there.

Fall is by far my favorite season, running shorts and long sleeve, yes please! Good thing I’m at least back to jogging just in time for the wonderful weather. I love Officer Hawk BTW!

I love Fall it’s my favorite. I have a picture of Rocky somewhere in a devil costume complete with a headband that has horns on it from Target. Love the officer Hawk costume:)

Yes to all of these!! I love fall so much, and I think fall in New England is so beautiful. I love it for all the reasons that you mentioned, and because fall (still) reminds me of cross country – so as September hits, I get a nervous excitement in the pit of my stomach. Which is kind of silly, seeing as it’s been 5 years since my last season….
I do get a little sad to see summer go, but I’m really looking forward to some cooler running weather. Running in shorts and a long sleeve shirt is so wonderful.
