- Most of you didn’t think I was a scumball for not showering post-barre class on Wednesday. Or, if you did, you kept that to yourself. Baby wipes and deodorant (exactly what I used) are pretty popular and they get the job done. I walked out of class at 7AM and was in my car en route to work by 7:15. That should speak volumes about my hair and make-up regimen for work.
- Speaking of barre class, I was sufficiently kicked to the curb on Wednesday morning. My legs were shaking uncontrollably during class. I had to take brief breaks. My hamstrings and calves were sore yesterday which, aside from running, I’ve never experienced before with any other strength training. I can’t wait for more torture next Wednesday!
- I got an iPhone! I had a terrible, old BlackBerry which could hardly pass for a smartphone. Now I see what all the hype is about. I’m obsessed with Instagram and found other (free!) apps like Where to Eat? and Oh Ranger! Park Finder. Reeder is also good (but not free). It’s a much better version of Google Reader.
- Today’s run was supposed to be short and sweet: 6 miles with 2 miles at tempo (7:35 pace). It was tough. My legs felt great but my lungs felt off. Effort-wise I felt like I did during Monday’s mile repeats but I was running just under 8:00 pace! The only plausible explanation could be my asthma. I got my allergy shots yesterday (I get them once per month) and I had a pretty bad reaction. That could have triggered something. Oh well, I get 13 miles of redemption tomorrow.
- I follow the San Francisco community page on Facebook for no other reason than daydreaming that I actually live there. They post pics and events and I imagine myself there. I know, total dork. Yesterday they posted this pic and I wanted to cry with envy.
If you could live in any city in the world, where would you live? I would live in SF. Absolutely. I love Philly too, it’s my hometown and a great city, but nothing compares to SF.
Got an iPhone? Was it life changing? I can’t believe how much I was missing!

[…] Friday Thoughts […]

Never been to San Francisco but its my dream to live there. Now the summer I spent in Monaco showed me it wouldn’t be bad to live there either…
I had an iPhone when they just came out. I actually hated it and got a blackberry. Now I have one of the new blackberry bolds and love it. I like having a keyboard. However I just did get an iPad I love. So maybe iPhones have improved or something. The thing I am most jealous of on the iPhone is instagram!! Haha

I also have an iPhone and it does indeed live up to the hype.
If I could live anywhere….huh. That’s tough. I’d like somewhere in like the mid Atlantic region where you get all four seasons, but none of them are crazy extreme. If that makes sense. Decidedly NOT New Orleans. I would move from here in a hot minute. Cold minute. Lukewarm minute.

I got an iphone a couple months ago, and though it’s more intuitive than the droid I have, it doesn’t feel all that different – I imagine it’s because I’m totally underutilizing it (have to look up those apps!).

Congrats on the iPhone…you’ll never go back! I can’t remember my pre-iPhone life 🙂 If I could live in any city, it would be San Diego all the way! SF is a good choice though.
Good luck on your 13 miler and sorry about the tempo run, bad runs are the worst!

I would love to either live in San Diego or San Francisco. My girlfriend moved to San Francisco 6-years ago after her divorce was finalized. Her cousin and his wife were going to have a baby and were giving up their one-bedroom apt. right next to the beach, one car garage & rent control $930/month. Holy crap. She said that if she could sell her house, she would do it and sure enough, she was able to sell it that week. So it was a sign and she is living the life. I visited her the month she moved out and let me tell you… we did morning runs from her apt., on the beach and across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was so refreshing and fellow runners were super nice!
San Diego b/c it’s more family oriented.
I do the Bar Method at home and when you have the ball in between your thighs doing the squats, holy crap… shakesville. Did you guys do pretzel?
LOVE LOVE LOVE my iphone!!! ;o)

Love your blog, Kristy! I’ve been wanting to try barre class, but I’ve been deterred by the price. I already spend too much money on running and Lululemon….
And I love my iPhone!

No really…. the iphone is a life changer!! There is a great Pace Calc app from Runner’s World that you should get.

1. I’m the queen of not showering. I once did a bike speed workout before work and couldn’t be bothered to shower because I was running after work and showering twice just sounded ridiculous.
2. I made the exact same blackberry to iphone transition, and life is so amazing now. I need to checkout reeder! Try warships – so much fun.
3. I suffer from asthma as well – what a pain in the ass. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

oooh, I need to follow that page! I love San Fran so much, if I didn’t love NYC slightly more I’d be so there in a heartbeat. But I think I’m pretty much an NYC lifer.
I can’t imagine life without my iPhone!
